CC's Robin

Any Yankee fan knows that Phil Hughes is not the most consistent Yankee.  In fact, he went from being an all-star in 2010 to an outcast in 2011.  A large part of that drop off was a significant decrease in velocity.  His Strike Outs per nine innings was a respectable 7.5 in 2010, but in 2011 it dropped to an abysmal 5.7.  He consistently sat at 91-93 in 2011 which helped him miss enough barrels and keep hitters off balance.  But this year he is different, he's ramping it up in big innings and recetly got three consecutive outs at 95, 95, and 94.  This year his strikeouts are up and his walks are down at 8.5 and 2.4 BB/9.  If he can keep the ball out of the middle of the plate he should be able to return to at least his 2010 form.  He's not the ace that was once predicted of him, but Phil Hughes could end up being a qualified Robin to CC's batman.

  1. I disagree with your statments on Phil Hughes. I think he's too inconsistent and I dont think his upper body mechanics are strong enough. Maybe the Yankees would be better off with a quality kuckleballer like R.A Dickey
